Taking a trip to a distant city can be a stress-free and thrilling experience—even during the COVID-19 pandemic—as long as you know how to keep yourself and others safe. Fortunately, Brian Ferdinand, the managing partner of SoBeNY, recently provided some tips for U.S. travelers to practice safety during the pandemic. Here is a look at what some travelers are doing to reduce their and other people’s exposure to the coronavirus.
Separate Apartments
In a recent article, Brian Ferdinand explains that when the COVID-19 pandemic affected the nation, more travelers started to turn to corporate housing in place of hotels. The reason for this is that corporate housing units undergo less turnover than hotel rooms do, and this naturally decreases a corporate housing guest’s chances of being exposed to the virus.
On top of this, corporate housing tends to have fewer people in one place than a hotel does, so it is perfectly designed for practicing social distancing. Again, this can reduce a traveler’s risk of getting infected with the coronavirus.
In addition, travelers who were already using corporate housing before the pandemic quickly adjusted how they used this type of accommodation during the pandemic to protect themselves. For instance, before COVID-19, multiple travelers often stayed together in a single unit to divide the nightly rate. However, during the pandemic, many traveling companions have chosen to forego sharing apartments to avoid spreading the coronavirus among them.
Quarantine Accommodation
Many travelers have also used corporate housing units as safe spaces for self-quarantining while waiting out many areas’ mandatory 14-day quarantine period after traveling. The benefit of staying in a corporate housing unit is that this type of accommodation is generally cost effective. In addition, because it comes fully stocked, it offers virtually everything a traveler may need for an extended period of time.
Accommodation Location
Another step you can take to protect yourself and others against the coronavirus is to choose corporate housing in areas that are not too heavily populated. For instance, a unit in a residential neighborhood may especially be appealing during the current pandemic. This will make it easier for you and your party to practice social distancing during your stay.
All in all, with a little creativity and a well-thought-out plan, you can be well on your way to enjoying a memorable and smooth trip in spite of the health challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
