CO2 Removal from Air: Does It Really Work?

May 23, 2022

Did you know that human activity has increased the level of CO2 by nearly 47% since the beginning of the industrial age so that we now have 412 parts per million (ppm) of CO2 in the air?

The problem with all this extra CO2 in the air is that it creates a greenhouse effect, which raises the temperature of Earth, and causes massive changes to water levels, crop production, and more. Thankfully, researchers all over the world are working on this problem and have found a solution – CO2 removal from the air.

Keep reading the article below to get educated on this important matter.

CO2 Removal Works This Way

The process of CO2 removal gets made easier using specialized CO2 removal machines (also called DAC or direct air capture machines). What these machines do is the following:

  • Use a series of fans to suck in ambient air
  • Push the air through a filter
  • This filter has chemicals on it that CO2 reacts to and sticks to
  • CO2 gets trapped and the rest of the air travels through
  • Use heat, pressure, or other chemicals to unstick the CO2
  • Mix the CO2 with water deep underground where it mineralizes and turns into stone
  • Voila – you removed CO2 from the atmosphere

This is a simplified version of the CO2 removal process, but you get the idea. These machines are working day and night to convert CO2 in the air to stone, thus helping us reduce our carbon footprint and protect the Earth’s ecosystems from further greenhouse damage.

There are 19 such DAC machines all around the world currently, but surely, as time goes on, these will increase as well.

Remove Your Carbon Footprint

The great thing about this method is that it is available to common folk like you. You don’t necessarily have to purchase a multi-million DAC machine. All you need to do is get a subscription from companies like Climeworks, where you pay a fixed amount each month and the company will remove a certain amount of CO2 from the air on your behalf.

Remove your carbon footprint and create a more sustainable world for future generations. This is even more important if your carbon footprint is quite high (if you live in a country like America, it probably is). Every time, you drive a car somewhere or eat a beef burger, you are inadvertently increasing the levels of CO2 in the air.

You can use CO2 removal subscriptions to remove this CO2 from the air, so you can help protect our environment from further degradation.

CO2 Removal from the Air – Do Your Part

It’s time you realized that each one of us plays a role in increasing the CO2 levels in the atmosphere and each of us must thus play a role in CO2 removal from the air as well. Are you ready to make a change in this regard?
