How To Plan a Socially Distant Valentine’s Date

January 26, 2021

Nearly a year into a global pandemic, many people have found ways to reimagine the holidays. From socially distant Christmas celebrations to campfire turkeys for Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day won’t differ. And while nothing replaces the ability to be in person, there are ways you can have a safe, fun, and socially distant Valentine’s Day. If you’re not sure how to celebrate Cupid’s favorite day from a distance, read on.

Sending Flowers

When planning a socially distant Valentine’s Day date, start with the basics. Ordering flowers like Bouqs Valentine’s Day roses will set the tone for a special virtual date. By now, you and your valentine have probably become pretty comfortable with Zoom, Skype, Facetime, and other connection platforms and apps. This year, you can watch your valentine put those flowers in a vase over the internet.

While this year might be a little different, the good news is that there are still ways to say ‘I love you’ from a safe distance. After you order flowers, you can send chocolates, a sentimental gift, or anything that will make your loved one feel special in addition to the bouquet. Consider writing him or her a love letter, making them a playlist, or even having a meal delivered when they least expect it.

Ordering Same Meals

For those worried about Covid-19 testing and trying to honor CDC distancing regulations or who have symptoms of covid-19, you can still share a meal with your valentine. Why not order food from the same place at the same time and share your meal that way? This Valentine’s Day, delivery drivers in all major cities will for certain be delivering more than traditional Valentine’s Day flowers. Add your special meal with your Valentine’s date to the pile.

Double Streaming

The same way you could share your meal, you could stream a movie together. Throughout the pandemic, families, couples, and friend groups have been spending time this way. All you have to do is agree on a movie or television show with your online Valentine’s date and watch it from the safety of your own homes at the same time or through a shared watch app. You’ll still be able to share laughs, conversation, and have nearly the same experience as if you were in the same room. Make sure you don’t forget the popcorn, too.

Connecting Online

This year, if you need to avoid close contact with your friends and family, you can still show them how much you love and appreciate them. Calling everyone you love and making sure they’re okay is the number one form of virtual care, and it goes a long way. After you call those online flower delivery companies and have your meal and date night plan set up, think about games you could play with people you love.

Whether some online trivia, a board game, or even a video game you play together, there are ways to connect from long distance this Valentine’s Day. Some are even playing role play games with characters who go into a virus-free world together minus face coverings. A nod to days past and hope that this will soon be over, these couples are reminding themselves that next year’s Valentine’s Day will mean physical touch and the ability to go out safely.

In the end, one of the biggest gifts of love you can give is to keep the people you love safe. In having a socially distinct Valentine’s Day, you’ve already given your loved one or romantic partner a gift. With a little time and research, you can make this year’s Valentine’s Day special. Think ahead and use the internet for ideas. You and your healthy valentine will be glad you did.
