Diabetes affects millions of people and has serious, lifelong health consequences. According to the CDC, approximately 11.3% of the US population has some form of diabetes.

Of course, what you eat and how you live can also impact whether or not you’ll have diabetes. People who smoke or eat a lot of sugar are at a higher risk than those who don’t.

Keep a log or journal of the foods you eat and see how you feel. If you need help coming up with a diabetes diet, consult with your doctor or see a nutritionist. With a healthier diet, you should see a reduction in diabetes symptoms.

Research is still being done on the prospect of reversing diabetes. But with a healthy diet, weight loss, and exercise, you can feel your best again and keep your blood sugar levels in check.
