Last month we ran a piece on popular cosmetic surgeries and there was an overwhelming response from you all, mostly wishing to learn more about botox. To help use with that last piece regarding botox Chevy Chase MD Elizabeth Stainthorpe offered us some great insight into what people can expect from this treatment, how long the results last for, whether or not it is painful and also what the average costs were that are associated with this practice. For those of you who had these burning questions and got in touch, here we hope to answer some of those queries which you have had.
What is The Average Cost of Botox?
If we are talking nationwide then the average cost of botox can vary wildly and generally speaking it comes in at around $10 per unit. The things that will impact the cost of botox will be your location and the reputation of the clinic where you are having the botox procedure.
Does Botox Hurt?
We all have different pain thresholds of course but the reality is that there is almost no pain at all when it comes to getting botox and he worst that you can expect to feel when they inject the botox is a prick under the surface of the skin. Not only does the injection not hurt very much but the procedure is over with so quickly that you won’t even have time to feel any pain.
How Long Before I See Results?
This is certainly one of the most common questions that came in and of course, once you have had the injections we are all eagerly awaiting those results to take hold. What you will see here is that after around the one week mark, your skin will begin to firm up and by the tenth day you should expect to see the full results of the botox injections. This is something which can vary from person to person but generally speaking this is the length of time that you will have to wait.
How Long Do Results Last?
The only thing that is required from someone who has botox injections is that they look after their own skin, if they are able to do this then they will find that the effects of the botox last a great deal longer. Generally speaking MDs will tell you that botox lasts for anywhere between 3 and 6 months. The reason why there is such a variation comes down to 2 factors, the first being based on age and condition of the skin and the second comes down to the way in which you look after your skin in the months following the injection.
And finally many of you asked us how often you could get botox and the truth is that if you wished you could get injections every 6 months. If you do this however you have to be aware of the fact that eventually the skin will get used to those injections and the impact will be significantly less over time.
