Visit Punta Cana: 5 Adventures Tourists Don’t Know About

April 22, 2022

Vacationing is one way people can unwind from stressful lifestyles and enjoy new destinations. In 2020, three million people visited the Dominican Republic.

Punta Cana is a popular spot that tourists love visiting for its versatility.

Getting deeper into its culture, like the locals, will ensure tourists have a better adventure overall.

Keep reading if you plan to visit Punta Cana and would like to learn about unique adventures!

1. Montaña Redonda

Traveling throughout Punta Cana can be tricky, especially when leaving the airport. Look here for more information on finding your accommodation. However, once you’re settled in, it’s time to start your first adventure.

Montaña Redonda is a hidden gem near Punta Cana. Its name translates to “round mountain,” and many people travel here to experience a unique area view.

Getting up the mountain can be done with a 4×4 vehicle or hiking up the trails. Once you’re atop, you can swing off the edge with swings and hammocks for a wild adventure.

2. Salto de la Jalda

There’s nothing better than finding an adventure not many people know about. One of the best places to visit in Punta Cana is Salto de la Jalda for this reason. It’s entirely off the beaten track and can be impossible to find for those that don’t know the area.

Salto de la Jalda contains the largest waterfall in the Caribbean. This breathtaking feature can only be found with a knowledgeable guide since no directions or signs are leading the way for tourists.

Be prepared for this hike, as the rugged terrain can be hard to navigate. Always bring adequate gear and water to ensure your safety.

3. Blue Lagoons of Punta Cana

When visiting Punta Cana, you’ll want to experience the subterranean waters that are breathtakingly blue. This swimming adventure can take place at the blue lagoons within Punta Cana. These sinkholes are crystal clear and are rarely overcrowded.

You’ll need to hire a guide to lead you to these lagoons. Once you’re there, you can relax in the cool waters. For more adventurous types, you can snorkel and explore underwater.

4. Juanillo Beach

The best time to visit Punta Cana is during the warmer season, so you can fully immerse yourself on the beach. Juanillo Beach is the perfect relaxation spot after a day full of adventure.

This beach has gorgeous white sands and turquoise waters. Many locals frequent the area to enjoy the food and bars on the beach. Hopefully, you’ll be relaxing beachside with a cold drink in your hand.

5. Cotubanamá National Park

Another good time to visit Punta Cana is when the wildlife is fully active. Cotubanamá National Park offers a unique adventure for visitors worldwide. You can take advantage of the waters, plants, and animals roaming the areas.

The clear waters make excellent diving conditions to explore vibrant reefs. Additionally, you can trek through the terrain to get a glimpse at the colorful flora and animals.
